RFEF released Yamal back to Barcelona - under protest - after learning Yamal had undergone a "minor procedure" without their prior knowledge. As such, medical protocols meant Spain needing to send the teen back to Barca.
Asked about the situation this morning: "There are procedures that happen outside of the Federation. It's what happens, it's what happens and you have to accept it. I had never experienced a situation like this. I don't think it's very normal.
"Of course it surprised me, like everyone else. You have no news, you do not know any details, and I insist, with health issues... one is surprised."
RFEF expressed its frustration and reported that Yamal underwent an invasive radiofrequency procedure to treat his pubalgia discomfort after the match at Celta Vigo.
In a staement, the Federation said: "The Medical Services of the RFEF they wish to express their surprise and discomfort after learning at 1:47 p.m. on Monday, November 10, the day of the start of the official concentration with the national team, that the player Lamine Yamal had undergone an invasive radiofrequency procedure for the treatment of his pubic discomfort that same morning.
"Said procedure has been carried out without prior communication to the medical staff of the National Team, being aware of its details only through a report received at 10:40 p.m. last night, which indicates the medical recommendation to rest for 7-10 days», added the Federation.
"Given this situation, and prioritizing the health, safety and well-being of the player at all times, the Royal Spanish Football Federation has made the decision to release the athlete from this call.
"We trust that he can evolve favorably and we wish him a speedy and complete recovery."
