Rashford made his competitive debut as Barcelona started their La Liga title defence with a controversial 3-0 victory against nine-man Mallorca at the weekend. The English international came on in the 69th minute for his debut, becoming the first English player to feature for the first team in a competitive game since Gary Lineker in 1989.
The 27-year-old forward left his boyhood club last month to join the La Liga side on loan after being pushed out by United manager Ruben Amorim alongside Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia.
In an interview with Sport, Rashford has now revealed that his new teammates have handed a new nickname as he settles into the side who are a close-knit group.
"When they are having fun with each other, they call me 'sweetie'. I don't know what that means, but it's funny when they talk to you like that."
The forward has revealed that he is trying to learn Spanish to better communicate and he hopes to better understand his new nickname which seems to find funny at the moment as he adapts to life in Catalonia.
"Yes, they know I'm trying to learn Spanish," he said. "I think it's important for me to learn as soon as possible. It's stimulating. You're always learning, and that's good. Catalan is difficult. I suppose that while I'm here, I'll learn a little and hope it will help me understand more about Catalan culture, which I also want to do."
