Former Chelsea and Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata has admitted that leaving Atletico Madrid was the "biggest mistake" of his career.

The 33-year-old journeyman striker has played for some of the biggest and best clubs in the world, but never really settled down.

Morata’s most prolific spell at a club came during his two-years at Atletico, between 2022-2024, technically his third spell at the club, scoring 36 goals in 93 games.

He then left the club to join AC Milan, where he struggled to make much of an impact before being shipped out on loan to Galatasaray.

Currently still under contract AC Milan, Morata was clearly feeling nostalgic about his career, admitting that leaving Atletico was his “biggest mistake.”

"My decision to leave Atletico Madrid was the biggest mistake of my career. I would trade all the titles I've won for just one with Atletico - just one. Atletico is a club I love. I was very happy there," he told Mario Suarez.
