Giraldez said, “We're arriving in good shape, with good feelings from everyone and eager to face this match, this stretch of the season, and hopefully we'll play a good game like the ones we've been playing.”

On Real Madrid's situation, he also insisted: "I'd trade places with them. I'd like to be second in the league and in the Champions League round of 16.

"They're at a point in the season where they need to establish themselves; they're going to fight for the two most important titles that teams in the Spanish league can compete for."

On Real Madrid counterpart Alvaro Arbeloa, Giraldez also said: “He’s a coach who hasn’t been here long, and I suppose he’s at that point where the team is adapting to his ideas, with mutual understanding between the players and him, and between him and the players.

"With all coaches, it takes time and a process.”

He added,  “Hopefully we'll win this match and secure our place in the league, which is our primary goal. We're also in the Europa League round of 16, which is a dream come true for us. I would have signed up for that at the start of the season."
