Bernardo Silva is fully focused on driving Portugal forward at the 2026 FIFA World Cup despite his incoming new club chapter at Real Madrid.

Silva confirmed his decision to leave Manchester City as a free agent after his contract expired at the end of last season and he moves to Madrid on the back of nine incredible campaigns in Manchester.

The veteran midfielder's call to pursue a new challenge comes on the back of Pep Guardiola's own departure from the Etihad Stadium and he will link up with Portuguese compatriot Jose Mourinho for preseason later this month.

Despite the huge attention on Mourinho's second spell in the Spanish capital, Silva has declined all questions on next season until after the World Cup is over.

"I'm not going to answer questions on Real Madrid; I'm in too important a position to focus on anything else. I'm very happy, but I'm focused on the national team. The next few weeks will be dedicated exclusively to the national team", he told a press conference ahead of Portugal's Round of 32 clash with Croatia.

"I want to be part of the team and I think I can help. I'm ready to help in any way I can, whether it's playing five minutes or even just being in the locker room."

Silva started Portugal's first group game, but was replaced at half-time by Sergio Conceicao as Roberto Martinez's team went on to draw 1-1, and he's only featured in one cameo substitute role since then.
