The German remains the youngest player to win Wimbledon, a title he lifted in 1985 at just 17 years old.
Throughout his career, he won six Grand Slam trophies, all except Roland Garros. In an interview with TalkSport, the former tennis player was asked about the parallels between his case and that of Yamal in football, and what advice he would give the young Spaniard.
Yamal made his Barça debut on April 29, 2023, aged just 15 years, 9 months, and 16 days, becoming the youngest player to ever wear the Blaugrana shirt. At 17, he had already won the European Championship with Spain, and at 18, he was a serious contender for the Ballon d'Or, finishing second behind Ousmane Dembélé this week.
"My alarm bells are ringing for me," said Becker. "Lamine is extraordinary, he's winning everything and is the best young talent in the world, but he inevitably reminds me of 17-year-old Boris Becker.
"I advise him to choose his friends carefully, trust his family and build a safety net so that, when his career ends, he doesn't make the usual mistakes. We'll see what happens. If I return to the show in 10 or 15 years, we'll probably talk about Lamine again and how he's done."
