Barcelona president Joan Laporta has moved to shut down doubts over coach Hansi Flick's future.

Claims in the Spanish press this week suggest the German could leave at the end of the season.

ABC reported on Tuesday that Flick has told his staff he is “very tired” and that he plans to leave. The report focused on Lamine Yamal, with Flick frustrated over how the club allows him “all kinds of eccentricities” and offers him “little support” regarding the teen's “scattered” attitude.

In response this morning, Laporta has moved to rubbish claims of Barca's coach being unsettled.

He said, "I know that Flick is happy at Barça and is excited about returning to the Spotify and being the coach of a club that will inaugurate a stadium for 105,000 spectators."

On Yamal, Laporta was even more emphatic: “Lamine is a genius, and I'm going to protect him. I'm by his side, and I'm going to support him. He's a brilliant player, one we're lucky to have developed.

"What I'm going to do is protect him and stand by him. He's an 18-year-old kid who's suddenly become famous. It's not easy to handle, and he's taking it in stride. He's also working incredibly hard, which is admirable.

"I've seen his recovery process, and just like with Gavi, he's giving it his all with the rehabilitation specialists.”
