The day after the match, Raphinha sought to downplay the controversy and apologised in a comment in a social media post.
The attacker justified his reaction by stating that it all happened in a moment of high tension: “It was an act committed in a moment of tension, in response to a fan who was disrespecting me.”
He also expressed regret for his behavior: “I apologise for my gesture, which does not reflect my values or my character.”
