The West London side stunned Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 in a final that shocked the world as due to how easy it looked for the Premier League side despite many believing the Ligue 1 champions were unbeatable.
However, despite such a special game it was Trump whole stole the spotlight as he stayed with the players during the trophy lift and despite FIFA president Gianni Infantino trying to brush him away. Cucurella told Spanish journalist Gerard Romero that he and the Chelsea side were scared to make him leave even if he was not meant to be part of the celebration.
“We had been told that, as a rule, Donald Trump would come to present us with the trophy and that we couldn't lift it until he left.
“And of course, we were all there waiting for him to leave, but the guy didn't want to leave, and on top of that, we looked at him and he said, "Get him up, I'll stay here, and so on."
“And I wondered who would say anything to him, you know... I was scared s***less!”
Chelsea will hope to start the 2025-26 Premier League season as title contenders and will make their way back to the Champions League once again. Cucurella will hope however that if they do lift the title or a European cup that another world leader won’t step in to steal the spotlight and confuse the side hoping to celebrate together.
