Liverpool defender Kostas Tsimikas is set to leave this side this summer as he searches for more consistent game time.

The 29-year-old has always been used as a backup player for Andrew Robertson during his time with The Reds and now even though the Scotsman enters the twilight of his career, his place in the side is still uncertain due to the arrival of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth

Robertson's contract set to run out at the end of the 2025-26 campaign but is the Greek international who is nearing the exit as manager Arne Slot aims to rebalance his squad which now has three senior fullbacks in the same position.

Tsimikas wasn’t even in the match day squad for either the Community Shield or the Premier League opener against Bournemouth which is a sure sign that Slot sees his future elsewhere and has no plans to implement him into his squad going forward. Reports state that a return to former club Olympiacos cannot be ruled out but he is also waiting for bids from other top sides from inside Europe.

Speaking back in June, Tsimikas said the temptation to play more frequently elsewhere is certainly there and he would be open to a move elsewhere even if his game time stays the same which it won’t with Kerkez and Robertson ahead of him in the pecking order.

“It's definitely a temptation to play more,” Tsimikas said. “I'm happy here, for five years I've always been happy with these players I had by my side and with the jersey I wore.

“But for me the 27-29 games I play every year in all competitions are more than playing 40 for another team and in another league. Here I am on the Broadway of football.

“It's very difficult to reach such a level, to play in 27 games in a season with a Liverpool shirt. If you think about it, not all players play 50 games; some play 50, others 10, others play five.

“I think 27 games I played on average over the last four years is a good number. I would definitely like to play more, but from then on in this league, with this team, I was always happy and I always gave my best. So I was ok with the games I played.”

The Reds signed him for just under £12m in 2020 and would likely ask for close to double that if he were to be sold. If he does leave for such a fee then it would represent another great piece of business for the side who have sold over £200M worth of players this summer.
