Sheffield Wednesday players are once again facing delays to their wage payments, adding to ongoing concerns behind the scenes at the club.

According to a report from BBC Radio Sheffield, the club have informed players that they will not be paid on time this month with a decision about the salaries of non-playing staff yet to be confirmed.

The club was put up for sale by incumbent owner Dejphon Chansiri earlier in the summer, but a deal is yet to have been agreed.

If September’s payday is missed, it will mark the fifth month in the past seven that players and staff have not received their payments on time.

Non-payment of players or staff could lead to further sanctions from the English Football League, which has already issued five embargoes against the Championship strugglers.
