United make the trip to St James' Park to face Newcastle United on Wednesday evening as they seek to maintain their spot inside the top 4 on the hunt for Champions League football.
Michael Carrick's men came from behind to clinch a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace at the weekend and will seek to grab another 3 points this week which could extend their lead over the likes of Aston Villa and Liverpool.
However, Carrick is missing a number of key players including Lisandro Martinez (Calf/Shin/Heel Injury), Matthijs de Ligt (lower back) and Patrick Dorgu (thigh) in defence as he looks to Harry Maguire, Noussair Mazraoui and Leny Yoro to plug the gaps.
Further up the pitch, Mason Mount (other) is also missing, with Carrick providing an update on the midfielder on Tuesday afternoon.
“Mason, he's getting a bit closer, so unfortunately, (injuries are) part of the game.
“There's always going to be people out, there's always going to be people missing, but we'll keep working as hard as we can to get them back.”
Both Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw missed the last game against Palace due to illness but should return for the Newcastle clash as Carrick confirmed they are being monitored.
“We're hoping so, we're working towards it. They weren't feeling too good, so we've still got a bit of time to the game, and we'll just have to see how they feel. We'll obviously give them every chance.”
