Liverpool showed no reaction from their weekend defeat to Crystal Palace, as they flopped against Turkish giants Galatasaray this week. Osimhen’s first-half penalty was all that separated the two sides, as The Reds failed to impress once again.
Osimhen has hailed Liverpool as one of the greatest clubs in the world after helping Galatasaray beat the Reds on Tuesday night but also praised the fans for their relentless support.
“I want to congratulate the team. It was a tough opponent for us. The odds seemed stacked against us. We managed to pull together,” Osimhen said.
“I was sidelined for three weeks, but for me, Galatasaray is the best team in the world. Thanks to the constant chanting of my name here and our fans, I’m playing better.”
Osimhen also admitted it was a “huge moment” to score the winning goal against Alisson Becker after midfielder Dominick Szoboszlai took down Baris Alper Yilmaz with a reckless loose hand.
His goal marked the first time he had scored against the six-time European champions and the first time he scored against Alisson after he had previously denied him from the penalty spot during his time with Napoli back in 2022
