Guardiola is under contract at the Etihad Stadium until 2027, but reports have suggested he could walk away at the end of the current campaign after 10 years at the club.
There have been claims that the current March international break could be used by him as a period to reflect on whether he will step away this summer.
After exiting the Champions League and failing in the Premier League title race, Sammer has opened up on Guardiola who he says does not look right.
“Well, first of all, I was very happy for him. We worked together wonderfully for three years; it was very, very good,” Sammer said on Sammer and Basile - the Hagedorn Talk.
“My gut feeling tells me something's wrong when I look at his face.
“When I see your eyes, when I see your face, and in other ways too, you really don't need to explain to clueless people what you are and who you are, and that you can't always win,' Sammer continued.
“I would advise him to take a deep breath.”
Questions have been raised as to whether Guardiola still has the passion to bring more trophies to City after winning 15 trophies with the club. This season could his last in what is the end of an era.
With an FA Cup quarter-final against Liverpool next on the agenda, Guardiola will be fully focused on grabbing what could be his final trophy with the Citizens at the end of the campaign.
