City won 4-1 on Wednesday night, with Foden scoring twice.
“Yeah loving it!” he said when asked if he’s enjoying his football. “I just need to play with a smile on my face which I’m doing.
“Last year was tough not just for me but for everyone. There’s a new togetherness this season and you can tell today, Dortmund caused us some problems, they’re a great team. We stuck at the game plan and broke them down with our talent up front. That’s what we want to try and do.
“I was surprised how much space I got. It’s about just sticking to the roles and sticking to what the manager says and waiting for the right moment to attack. I think we found myself perfectly at the right time. I got my head up and found the space. I used the defender to put it around him so the goalkeeper couldn’t see (for the first goal).
“In the pocket checking my shoulder scanning and it was about getting the shot away at the right time (for the second goal). I already knew what I was going to do before I got the ball because I saw the space. I think naturally I was always checking my shoulder and everyone has their strengths and that’s my strength.
“Playing with the likes of Jeremy (Doku) and Savinho they like to attack quick so I’d say this year we’re a little bit more direct. It’s about sticking together and picking the right times to attack.
“It’s obviously easier to be on top. If you’re not, it’s about finding a different way to win. This year especially, our defensive structure now is a lot better. When things are not going right, we stick together. We just have to focus on ourselves and keep putting points on the board. That togetherness goes a long way.”
