“There’s still time to decide. I don’t feel any pressure, and right now I don’t even know which path to take,” the Polish striker admitted to Bogdan Rymanowski on his YouTube channel.
What is clear to him is that, whether he renews with Barça—if the club is interested—or moves elsewhere, certain conditions must be met. “It’s not about cutting my salary in half either. The decision will depend on what the club wants and what I think is best,” he emphasized regarding the possibility of staying at the Catalan club, which is still dealing with salary cap issues.
He also wants to know if he’ll continue to play an important role on the pitch if he stays with the team. “It depends on the sporting project the club has in mind and the role I might have under Hansi Flick.”
In this regard, Lewandowski shows his competitive spirit, that of someone who has achieved everything in European football. “I know I’m in the final stretch of my career, but my ambitions are still very high. That’s why I want it all: I want to qualify for the World Cup, I want to win LaLiga, I want to win the Champions League.” And, of course, he wants to keep playing and scoring goals, just as he has throughout his career.
He believes it’s possible because, after a somewhat turbulent start to the season, good results have helped ensure that “things are more stable now. That helps the team perform better and creates a good atmosphere in the dressing room.”
