Jose Mourinho has been revealed to have left a hefty hotel bill after leaving Fenerbahçe back in August.

Back in August, Mourinho left his role as head coach of Fenerbahce after the Turkish giants missed out on a place in the league phase of the UEFA Champions League thanks to a 1-0 defeat to Benfica

Mourinho joined Fenerbahce in June 2024 and finished second to Galatasaray in the Super Lig last season. The legendary manager lasted just a year with the side, who were left with huge costs to cover after he departed.

According to the claim of Yeniçağ writer Müge Dağıstanlı Erdoğan, the Portuguese icon stayed at the Four Seasons Hotel in Istanbul and resided in the hotel's most luxurious suite for the entire 15-month period.

The cost of this accommodation to Fenerbahçe was exactly 36.5M TL or around €700K when converted. Reports state that the club covered his hotel accommodation expenses as well as his contract termination, which was “a significant financial burden on the side” according to Record.pt.

The 62-year-old, who had previously managed Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea, left just two games into the season and has now found himself with Benfica, the side who cost him the Fenerbahce role.

He has so far struggled at Benfica and will face Ajax and Serie A champions Napoli before the end of the year, before taking on Juventus and Real Madrid in January as he aims to qualify for the next round of the Champions League.
