Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has revealed why he did not attend the Bayern Munich vs Paris Saint-Germain clash.

Paris St-Germain came out on top in a nine-goal thriller against Bayern Munich at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday night in what was one of the most thrilling games of the season so far.

A semi-final befitting a final lived up to expectations for supporters who crowned the game one of the best in the Champions League for a number of years.

However, the breathtaking contest was missed by Guardiola, who was spotted in the crowd at Stockport County's Edgeley Park on Tuesday as they faced Port Vale in League One.

The Spaniard explained his decision as he joked that PSG and Bayern simply did not have enough quality for his taste.

"The day before, I saw the calendar and saw PSG and Bayern Munich and thought, 'bah, what a disaster game.' Managers are not good - Luis (Enrique) and Vini (Vincent Kompany)," Guardiola said.

"Really sh*t players, so… I'm in love with English football, and I decided to go to Stockport. Next season, when Bayern Munich play my old team, I will be in front of the sofa."

Of course, Guardiola was just teasing as he worked with Bayern boss Vincent Kompany for many years, and he also has a lot of respect for PSG and Enrique.

The City boss may not have had time to fly out of the UK, opting instead to visit a side just a few miles away from the Etihad.

The winners of the Semi Final clash between Bayern and PSG will face Arsenal or Atletico Madrid, who play in Wednesday's semi-final, in the final in Budapest.
