Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has suggested that manager Michael Carrick give another chance to Rasmus Hojlund.

Hojlund has 10 goals and 3 assists in 28 Serie A appearances for Napoli this season as he guides the Italian side to a Champions League spot.

His future with United remains undecided as he continues to impress away from the side who have since sacked manager Ruben Amorim who the Danish star failed to thrive under.

As The Red Devils fight for a place in Europe, Giggs was asked about United’s transfer plans and revealed that the club should consider handing Hojlund another chance to shine in the side.

“Let’s see what he (Michael Carrick) can do with a pre-season and getting the players he wants.

"Everyone expected him (Hojlund) to come in and do great. I think Sesko gets more chances and scores more goals," Giggs admitted. "But you never know, if you’ve got two young, hungry centre forwards up front and say fight it out.

“You see at United that’s always been a strength. I say training is harder than the games, if you’ve United centre halves at one end marking Sesko it’s going to be competitive.

Asked if he would keep any of United’s unwanted stars such as Jadon Sancho, he added. “Maybe Hojlund, maybe. I thought he was unlucky he was just the only centre forward at the club.”

In his first season for United, Hojlund scored 10 Premier League goals, but only managed four in the 2024/25 campaign. After spending time away from the side, Hojlund could return and impress supporters who have admired him from afar since he left.
