A red card for Liridon Balaj after 27 minutes was to prove costly for Drita when the Kosovo minnows suffered a 1-0 defeat at home against FC Copenhagen in the second round of the qualification for the UEFA Champions League.

The Danish champions from FC Copenhagen moved one step closer to the dream of gaining a place in the Champions League this season in Kosovo on Tuesday evening.

After the 2-0 win at home over FC Drita a week ago, Jacob Neestrup's team finished the job with a 1-0 victory in the second leg of the second round of the qualification.

In the third qualifying round, a Scandinavian clash awaits in all probability against Malmö FF, who, however, must first defend a 4-1 lead in the return match against RFS from Latvia on Wednesday.

Should FC Copenhagen win that tie, they will qualify for the playoff round which is the last obstacle before the place in the Champions League is at home.
