Liverpool’s dire season suffered another blow on Sunday as Arne Slot’s side lost 3-2 to United at Old Trafford in what was a dismal performance.
United secured their place in next season's Champions League with the victory whilst Liverpool, the Premier League champions will have to wait for their chance next weekend.
The win, featuring goals from Cunha, Benjamin Sesko, and Kobbie Mainoo came late as United stumbled in the second half before a late goal from the England international secured 3 points.
Cunha missed the Brentford game as a precaution with a sore hip flexor but entered the squad on Sunday as one of United’s most deadly threats going forward.
Speaking after the victory, the Brazilian stated that Carrick remind him of legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson who was rushed to hospital before the game due to a health scare.
“When Carrick comes, he came with magic! Alex Ferguson vibes”.
“He talks so much about his team, the conquering team. This feeling comes to us, we feel so happy with the information, we focus so hard to reach the objective”.
Carrick has won 10 of his 14 games across all competitions since replacing Ruben Amorim in January. He has revived the side who now return to the Champions League ahead of a squad overhaul this summer as Carrick builds a side fit to win the title.
