The forward made a loan switch to the La Liga champions in the summer window in a season-long loan agreement which includes a €35M purchase option. Barcelona decided to prioritise the signing of a new winger and targeted Rashford after failing to sign other talents such as Liverpool’s Luis Diaz.
The 27-year-old has endured a mixed start to his career in La Liga, coming on as a substitute in two of Barcelona’s first three games of the season as fans wait for him to pull off a world-class performance.
Rumours have circulated over the past week that the club may return to the England international after a disappointing start which shocked many fans who are patiently waiting for him to perform.
However, these rumours have been crushed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano who admits he is confused by such reports that hold no weight.
“I don’t know where this story is coming from, to be honest I think it’s really a shame to see these kind of rumours. There’s absolutely zero into it. Barcelona are very happy with Rashford, very happy with the deal they did.
“It’s a loan with a buy option so for Barca even financially it’s not a big problem. They’re very happy with the attitude of Marcus Rashford.
“They are waiting obviously for Marcus to adapt, new football, new league, new city, new team-mates, after spending a lot of time always in the same country. So for Rashford it’s a big opportunity, he knows that.
“But they are completely aligned. They are starting this new chapter with optimism and confidence.
“So at the moment these reports of Barcelona terminating the loan deal early for Rashford is complete bullsh*t. There’s nothing at all in it.”
He has made three appearances this season and is yet to score or assist, but it looks like manager Hansi Flick is ready to wait for Rashford to come out of his shell and adapt to the side as the season progresses.
