Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has given injury updares on both Jurrien Timber and Mikel Merino.

The Gunners make the short trip across the capital to face West Ham United in Sunday’s London derby as they aim to continue their title push in the final 3 games of the campaign.

Arsenal are five points clear atop the Premier League table, but that lead may be cut down to just three if Manchester City beat Brentford on Saturday.

Reports state Arsenal have already begun preparations for a potential trophy parade at the end of the season as they come close to the title and enter the Champions League final later this month.

Now, ahead of the clash against the Hammers, Arteta has revealed team news on two players who will not feature.

First of all, Arteta stated there was “nothing to add” regarding injuries elsewhere in the side before stating that Mikel Merino and Jurrien Timber had “no chance" to face West Ham “this weekend”.

Will fans see them before the end of the season: “I don't know there is still a fair bit to do. Everything needs to be so smooth and quick.”

Arteta lastly commented on Timber, who has missed Arsenal’s last 11 matches since limping off against Everton in mid-March due to a groin injury. The Spaniard was asked about his time out of action.

“Yes and that has probably been the most difficult thing to manage, with the player, with myself as well. We didn't expect it to take so long and he's not fit to play.”

Arsenal have only been bested by the Hammers eight times in their 48 meetings since the turn of the millennium and a win would see them almost cement their first league title in over 20 years as Timber and Merino watch from the sidelines.
