Mohamed Salah's Instagram post has been liked by several Liverpool players as manager Arne Slot comes close to being sacked.

Salah’s statement following Liverpool’s damning defeat to Aston Villa went viral as he ripped apart the club before his departure this summer.

The winger tore into the poor tactics used by Slot which have led to the side failing to defend their title and struggling to obtain Champions League football this season.

"Us crumbling to yet another defeat this season was very painful and not what our fans deserve," he said.

"I want to see Liverpool go back to being the heavy metal attacking team that opponents fear and back to being a team that wins trophies. That is the football I know how to play and that is the identity that needs to be recovered and kept for good".

The post has generated well over 1M likes and Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, Ibrahima Konate, Andy Robertson and Wataru Endo have also joined in on the action.

Hugo Ekitike, Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Firmpong, Giovanni Leoni and Milos Kerkez also liked the post alongside Scouser Curtis Jones as Slot completely loses the dressing room at the club.

Several other players including youngsters Stefan Bajcetic, Calvin Ramsay, Rhys Williams also joined in as the future of the club looks bleak under the Dutchman. Former Liverpool player Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is now at rivals Real Madrid, also liked the post despite leaving on bad terms as he supports Salah's desperate message.

Ekitike commented a handshake emoji, while Jones added an applause emoji underneath the post.

Liverpool may now need to beat Brentford on the final day of the season to ensure Champions League qualification, something that is far from the expectations for the club.
