According to reports, Schalke are actively working to strengthen their squad and have identified the 25-year-old as a key target.
However, no formal offer has yet been made to Eintracht Frankfurt, who currently hold his contract.
Frankfurt are reportedly seeking around €3 million for the midfielder, while Schalke are said to be willing to offer closer to €1 million in negotiations.
The club remains hopeful of reaching an agreement.
