The 22-year-old broke and dislocated his left ankle during Bayern’s 2-0 quarter-final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in July 2022 after a collision with now Manchester City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
It was a horror injury that reports has predicted would destroy his season, but the midfielder has surgery and rapidly recovered behind the scenes to make an incredible comeback.
“If everything goes well today, he'll be there. That's a great thing.
“He exudes a lot of positive energy. At the moment, even the little things are great. You appreciate everything much more. Jamal is experiencing that right now, as is Alphonso Davies. I want to protect both of them. The priority right now is integration,” he added.
"At some point, they'll reach the level they were at before their injuries. When you play all the time, your fitness comes from playing. Now he's had time to rebuild his body, strengthen his mobility and speed. That's why injuries give you time to come back even stronger.
"He is coming out of a dark tunnel," Kompany admitted.
Musiala enjoyed a successful 2024-25 campaign, scoring 21 goals and registering eight assists across all competitions as Bayern won the Bundesliga title.
As he returns this weekend, the German star will hope to slowly integrate back into the side under Kompany who will be thrilled to see him back on the pitch.
