England manager Thomas Tuchel has stated that Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane's Ballon d'Or should have been higher.

Ousmane Dembele won the 2025 Ballon d’Or ahead Barcelona's Lamine Yamal in what was a deserved win for the Paris Saint-Germain star. Cole Palmer in eighth was the highest-ranked English player in the voting, whilst Kane finished just 13th in a vote that confused many supporters.

This was despite him lifting the Bundesliga and scoring 41 goals for Bayern across all competitions in what was a record-breaking season for the veteran striker who will feel disheartened by such a position.

Speaking in his latest press conference, Tuchel revealed that he thought Kane should be higher and deserved more recognition.

“I'm not the biggest fan of individual awards in a team sport because I truly believe that you can only win in football.

“The field is too big, the teams are too big as a team player, but Harry is a true team player, and he stands out with what he does, so he should be higher than 13th for sure.”

With this being a World Cup year, there are domestic, European and international factors to consider this time around for the Englishman. Winning domestically as well as lifting the World Cup would certainly give Kane a leg up as he aims to finish his illustrious career with a bang.
