The club have confirmed that Rohl have left the side in a statement this morning after he signalled his intention to depart Hillsborough last month due to issues going on behind the scenes. This includes how the club are unable to pay any transfer fees for players until the January transfer window of 2027.
“Sheffield Wednesday can confirm the departure of manager Danny Röhl by mutual consent.
“Wednesday then consolidated the following term, with Röhl steering the club to a mid-table finish in the second tier.
“Sascha Lense, Chris Powell, Neil Thompson and Sal Bibbo have also departed S6.
“Sheffield Wednesday would like to thank Danny and his backroom team for their services and wish them well for the future.”
Last month, Rohl told Kicker that he was thinking about the future of his career and how Germany could be an option as it allows coaches more freedom and room to grow:
"Personally, I had a fantastic time at Sheffield Wednesday. I’ve made no secret of the fact that I’d like to work at the highest possible level with the best players in the near future.
"And the Bundesliga is, of course, a consideration. My situation in Sheffield is unofficially relatively clear.
"There’s a clear agreement with the owner about how I envision my future. Unfortunately, I can’t go into detail about that right now."
Wednesday are now less than two weeks away from their opening game of the season and are without role, many first team players who have departed and a squad that includes Michael Smith and Josh Windass, who are to exercise options to terminate their contracts due to wages being delayed.
