Bayern Munich have entered contract talks with Harry Kane as he continues to thrive at the club.

Kane bagged a late winner as Bayern Munich fought back from 3-0 down at Mainz to win 4-3 and extend their lead at the top of the table to 18 points this weekend.

The England captain has played 141 games for Bayern since his arrival scoring 138 games and has scored 53 times in just 45 fixtures for the German champions this season.

Kane's current contract runs until 2027 and club executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed the good news that talks will begin shortly as they aim to keep him at the side.

"Getting Harry Kane to Munich was an important coup in the history of the club. It is known that he had a release clause.

“He didn't trigger that and signalled he would definitely stay in Munich. And, as agreed, those responsible in the operational area will hold talks with him at some stage after the season with the clear aim of extending his contract."

A new deal would ward off any interest in the summer transfer window which is quickly approaching. Rummenigge added that he believes Kane has “undergone another transformation” since Vincent Kompany took over as manager as the side claimed yet another league title.

“He has always been a great striker who scores a lot of goals. But now he is also a play making striker who drops deeper into midfield and, from there, brings Michael Olise and Luis Díaz into the game with his excellent long passes. That is very important for our style of play.”
