The tactician praised progress made under Hugo Broos, describing Bafana Bafana’s current team as a “unique hybrid” on the international stage

He also acknowledged his difficult history against Bafana Bafana, having failed to secure a win in previous encounters.

The Mexican boss says those results underline the challenge ahead as he prepares for another meeting with the African side on the world stage.

"South Africa is a tough team. It doesn't really have the African style, nor the European one,” Aguirre told the media per Soccer Laduma.

"It's a mix, with a Belgian coach (Broos) who knows a lot about tactical work.

"The team is in its best physical, athletic and mental shape."
