Samuel Eto'o has revealed that he believes Kylian Mbappe may be judged for his skin colour that affects how highly he is rated.

France are aiming to become just the third team to reach three successive World Cup finals this week as they face off against Spain

Les Bleus will be looking to Mbappe, who has 8 goals in the tournament so far, to lead the side once more on Tuesday night in what should be a thrilling affair.

With 20 career World Cup goals since 2018, the Real Madrid star has become the main star for France who often rely on his ability to guide the side at major tournaments.

Former Barcelona and Inter forward Eto'o has spoken on Mbappe, a player he believes faces hurdles due to his skin colour.

"He simply deserves to be judged with the same fairness as other great champions, and perhaps it's time for France to fully appreciate how fortunate it is to have a player of such stature in its history. But despite his performances, his records, his list of achievements, and his consistency, he seems to constantly have to prove himself again."

"It's legitimate to ask a question, even if it's uncomfortable: Do Kylian's mixed heritage, his origins, and what he represents in French society influence, consciously or unconsciously, how some people judge his career, his personality, and his stances?

“This question deserves to be asked responsibly, not to make unfounded accusations, but because racism, prejudice, and bias still exist in our societies and should never be normalised.

"What more does Kylian Mbappe have to accomplish to be fully recognised as the best French player of his generation, or even as one of the greatest French players in history?”

Though Mbappe was taken off in the second half of France's quarter-final, he should recover from a minor ankle sprain in time to lead his side once more against Spain this week.
