Iraola wants someone to partner Virgil van Dijk next season after Ibrahima Konate snubbed a new contract in favour of joining Real Madrid on a free transfer.
Van Dijk is one of four options at the manager's disposal, including Joe Gomez, the incoming Jeremy Jacquet and the returning Giovanni Leoni.
But Liverpool could add to that list with the signing of Joel Ordonez from Club Brugge. The Ecuador international has been admired long-term by the Merseyside giants, and according to Caught Offside, the Reds are going to rekindle their interest in the 22-year-old.
They're joined by Premier League rivals Tottenham, who are said to be "leading the race" for his signature, while Chelsea have also thrown their hat into the ring.
Crucially, Brugge are open to selling the talented South American after once showing determination to keep him, with a €45 million (£38.8m) asking price being named.
Ordonez is arguably one of Europe's most talented ball-playing defenders, featuring prominently in the Champions League last term, and is now ready to star at the World Cup for his country.
