Thomas Partey will almost certainly leave Villarreal once his contract expires on June 30.

The Ghanaian signed a one-year contract with the Spanish side in August 2025, just weeks after being charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault by London’s Metropolitan Police.

Partey was recently denied entry into Canada ahead of Ghana's opening game against Panama due to charges in the UK, and now he's set to be released by his club.

According to The Athletic, Villarreal do not intend to give the 33-year-old a new contract, and he will be left without a club at the end of the month.

The defensive midfielder made 32 appearances in all competitions for the LaLiga side last term as they qualified for the Champions League.

On Tuesday, Partey's efforts to land a Canadian visa for the World Cup failed, with court documents revealing the initial visa application did not disclose the criminal charges he faces in the UK.
