England finally kick off their World Cup campaign against Croatia on Wednesday night.

The Three Lions are looking to end 60 years of hurt in North America, and several of their stars will play a crucial role, none more so than Jude Bellingham

Real Madrid's incredible midfield talent is one of the few truly world-class players in Thomas Tuchel's squad, and yet, there is still a debate over whether he should start their opening game.

A disappointing campaign at Madrid is arguably overshadowing his unbelievable star-like qualities, with many feeling Morgan Rogers - at least based on form - should get the nod ahead of him in the number 10 role.

However, Bellingham showcased his class in two pre-tournament friendlies against New Zealand and Costa Rica, with former England midfielder Scott Parker waxing lyrical over the 22-year-old.

In a column for The Telegraph, Parker explained how underappreciated Bellingham is in England, particularly for the attributes he offers out of possession.

"Talent does not shine without hard work and Bellingham works hard. When I look at him from a coach’s perspective, I see a young man with all the gifts but, most importantly, I see someone who is exceptional out of possession. He is so tactically astute and understands how to cover spaces," the former Burnley manager wrote.

"It is a feature of his game that never gets discussed. It is not appreciated. Maybe it is down to him not being in the Premier League, his career following a different (but hugely successful) route from Birmingham City to Borussia Dortmund to Real Madrid.

"Is he regarded by some, simply, as an England player, first and foremost? Maybe. What that does not factor in is the exceptional job he does in Madrid, and I do sometimes wonder whether there is a genuine appreciation of what Bellingham brings to this England team."

Bellingham, like Harry Kane, can produce match-winning moments on the biggest stage, and Tuchel will need him at his best to stand any chance of winning the World Cup
