The defending European champions remain as one of the favourites to win the tournament as Luis de la Fuente aims to follow up continental success with a first world crown since 2010.
De la Fuentte has looked to ease certain players back from injures sustained at the end of 2025/26 club season with wing wizards Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams both being reintroduced with caution.
Lamine Yamal picked up a hamstring injury in April and missed Barcelona's campaign run-in as Hansi Flick retained his LaLiga title ahead of Real Madrid.
The 18-year-old came off the bench in the 0-0 opening draw with Cape Verde, and then netted his first-ever WC goal in the 4-0 win over Saudi Arabia, before being replaced at half-time.
In total, Lamine Yamal has not completed 90 minutes so far, and Williams has come on as a substitute in all three matches after his own fitness woes.
The pair were electric for Spain at UEFA Euro 2024, but the last 12 months have been dominated by groin and hamstring issues for Williams, and he picked up a late knock against Uruguay after a poor challenge from Nicolas de la Cruz.
Williams' participation in the rest of the World Cup is unclear - but he's determined to feature again - as per an emotional post on social media.
"Today is one of the worst days of my life. I'm injured again after a very tough year.
"I was caused a new injury after a foul in which a fellow professional acted out of frustration, discontent and sadness over the situation he was in. But, this won't stop me, my story isn’t over - we’ll see each other as soon as possible in this World Cup."
De la Fuente has rotated on the left side of his attack, alongside Lamine Yamal and Mikel Oyarzabal, with Alex Baena his pick in the last two games.
