England midfielder Jordan Henderson has been ruled out for the remainder of the World Cup following his freak injury while celebrating the 3-2 win over Mexico on Sunday (July 5).

The 36-year-old was a shock inclusion in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the tournament and has only played six minutes across their five games.

Henderson didn’t play in England’s memorable 3-2 win over Mexico at the Estadio Azteca but still managed to pick up a booking and an injury.

While celebrating with his teammates, Henderson appeared to slip while climbing the advertising hoardings, falling awkwardly on his wrist and breaking it.

Per Sky Sports, his tournament is now over, remains in a hospital in Mexico, and may even need to undergo surgery on the break.
