The former England and Manchester United striker is confident that Kane will fire England into the World Cup final against Spain on Sunday.
Appearing on BBC's 'The Wayne Rooney Show', he said: "If Harry Kane is on it, they won't be able to deal with Harry Kane.
"He will absolutely destroy those two centre-backs."
Kane is set to face off against his former teammate Christian Romero while Manchester United's Lisandro Martinez is also expected partner him in defence for Argentina.
Rooney continued: "Harry's a nightmare for that type of defender.
"If Harry's dragging them into positions where they feel a bit exposed... then it's just about the timing of the pass and the timing of the run in behind them."
The Bayern Munich marksman has six goals so far at this summer's tournament, and will have his sights on getting past Lionel Messi's Argentina to set up a return to the World Cup final this weekend.
