Despite the Norwegians’ unbeaten record against the South Americans, with two wins and two draws in previous meetings, their Manchester City star has labelled the former world champions as clear favourites going into the knockout tie.
Guimaraes believes the striker’s comments are a tactical attempt to ease expectation on his own side. The midfielder also expressed excitement about facing Martin Odegaard in a key midfield duel, calling it a personal challenge in a high-stakes match.
"He is very cunning in what he says. He takes all the responsibility off them and puts it on us,” Guimaraes told Caze TV.
“To be very honest, I don't care much about what people do. Football is decided on the field. Eleven against eleven. It's going to be a great game, hard-fought.
“They have their qualities too. Tall players, they will try crosses. We have to be smart. He is cunning; he is taking the pressure off them. We have to be prepared."
