Earlier this month, Ecuador made a complaint to World Cup organisers over noisy local fans outside their team hotel before their last-32 match against co-hosts Mexico.
Mexican fans gathered outside Ecuador’s hotel as dozens of supporters used loudspeakers, horns, and motorcycles to disturb the visiting squad’s rest until the early hours of the morning.
Now, with England set to travel to the Estadio Azteca on Monday morning, The Mirror report that the Three Lions would have preferred a late arrival in Mexico City, to help reduce the effects of the altitude and to avoid a night from hell.
However, as per FIFA tournament rules, teams must arrive in the city hosting the game within 24 hours of kick-off, which is 8pm local time on Sunday.
Speaking on the potential disruption, Tuchel understands that it may be hard for his already exhausted side.
“The recommendation is you either go ten days before – which is too long for us – or last minute, which is not allowed,” Tuchel said, “we will go one night earlier. It makes sense.”
“We will expect that of course, but what shall we do? We will bring stuff (like ear plugs) of course, but I expect everything.”
England want to keep their hotel location a secret according to the BBC but the side can almost guarantee that it will be leaked when the side arrive.
