Spain will be hoping to record their first victory at the World Cup when they continue their Group H campaign against Saudi Arabia on Sunday afternoon.
Yamal will be the one to watch during the clash, despite his subpar performance against Cape Verde in the opening clash.
The Barcelona winger recorded 24 goals and 17 assists for the Spanish giants last season, as he carried the side to the La Liga title at 18 years old.
Speaking ahead of the World Cup clash between the two sides on Sunday night, Donis believes that Yamal has stepped into a world of his own even if he is still a teenager.
“I think Yamal is maybe this period the biggest talent in the world. I think he started to replace Messi in Barcelona in the best way. I didn’t see a player at this age to make this difference and to have this quality and to play with this maturity.
“For me the most important is not about the skills, but about the maturity and he knows what he can do every moment and that is the biggest difference.
“It’s wonderful for the world of football to see talents like Lamine Yamal, and it’s beautiful to face players with this level of quality.
“I remember myself when I was coaching Abuel and we faced Barcelona during Messi’s era. And in general, I see that Lamine Yamal currently is the youngest talent who possesses the greatest quality alongside this maturity.”
Spain’s hopes at this summer’s World Cup are pinned Yamal stepping up, much like Messi who supporters see as essential to winning the World Cup as both players act like keys for their nations.
