Despite that, Ronaldo is expected to play a big role for Portugal this summer as he prepares for a sixth World Cup campaign.
Speaking to reporters ahead of their opening game against DR Congo, on Wednesday (June 17), he laughed off a suggestion that he wasn’t physically ready.
“Physically, I’m fine,” Ronaldo replied, before poking fun at those asking. “Haven’t you been watching the matches?”
Ronaldo hasn’t scored a goal for Portugal since his brace in their 2-2 World Cup qualifier draw against Hungary last October.
