Hamed Junior Traore could be set for a return to Serie A despite being on the verge of completing a permanent move to Olympique Marseille.

The Ivorian midfielder joined the French club on loan from AFC Bournemouth last summer in a deal that included an obligation to buy, with Marseille expected to pay around €7.5 million after the agreed conditions were met.

However, his future remains uncertain as the Ligue 1 side consider player sales to ease financial pressures.

Injuries limited the 26-year-old to just 19 appearances in all competitions during the 2025/26 season, although he still managed three goals and two assists.

According to reports, Genoa are interested in signing Traore, who is no stranger to Italian football after previous spells with Sassuolo, Empoli and Napoli earlier in his career.
