The Nigeria international striker is wanted by Inter Milan and is eager to see the move happen. But the two clubs are yet to settle on a fee.
Taking to Instagram, Lookman confirmed he has made a transfer request to Atalanta, while explaining his decision:
"Over the last three years at Atalanta, I've given my all.
"Not just as a player, but also as a person. I've always worn this jersey with pride and tried to best represent the club and the city of Bergamo with heart, passion, and dedication.
"I came here with the hope of helping this special club grow, and together, we've created memories that I'll cherish forever. Winning the Europa League and celebrating that night in Dublin, side by side with my teammates and our fans, was one of the best and most meaningful moments of my career. Even today, I get shivers thinking about it.
"Atalanta, and especially its fans, have become a part of me.
"From day one, I felt at home, and I've always tried to reciprocate that love—even when, behind the scenes, it wasn't easy.
"This is precisely what makes writing these words so difficult. I've loved every single moment, but I feel that now, after three wonderful years in Bergamo, the right time has come to move on and embark on a new adventure.
"Several clubs have approached Atalanta in the past, but I've always chosen to stay loyal. However, the club's owners and I agreed that now was the right time to leave, and I was clearly told that, if a fair offer was made, I would be allowed to leave.
I don't understand
"Although an offer has now arrived that corresponds to what we agreed upon, unfortunately the club is rejecting it for reasons I don't understand.
"For this reason, and after months of broken promises and what I perceive as unfair treatment towards me—both as a man and as a footballer—I feel, with regret, that I have no choice but to speak out for what I believe is right. I can confirm that I have officially submitted a transfer request.
"Even in the most difficult moments—many of which I chose to keep private and confidential—I always put the club, the fans, and the team first, hoping it wouldn't come to this. But sadly, I believe there are no longer any alternatives.
"To the fans—the beating heart of this club—I want to say this: I am deeply sorry that it has come to this. I hope you can understand the extreme difficulty of this situation. For me, it's simply about standing up for what I believe is fair and just.
Your support has always been incredible, and the bond we've created is something special.
"I hope that we can work together with the club to find an amicable solution for all parties involved as soon as possible.
"With love and gratitude,
"Ademola."
