The Serb was first brought to Italy by Corvino when he was in charge of transfers at Fiorentina.
He said, "It's a move I'm still proud of today. What I can say is that criticism is always useful, because it motivates you to improve. But if I analyse his case, the amount of criticism he's received seems truly exaggerated. Juve is trying to recreate the conditions to return to winning ways, and I believe Vlahovic has contributed to this.
"Just look at the number of goals he's scored: since his arrival, he's consistently scored a goal every two or three games. How can you ask more of him?! It's difficult to find a more prolific striker in a reconstruction phase like this. But then again, we're talking about a young player..."
Asked if Vlahovic's progress has stalled due to the heavy criticism, Corvino was adamant.
"Of course! But it would have been the same for anyone. He's always shown an unrestrained desire to learn and improve. When I worked at Fiorentina, my office overlooked the training pitch, and I'd see him training alone against the wall at the end of a session.
"It's something I've never seen anyone do. I had to kick him off the pitch, otherwise he'd stay there until nightfall. I'd yell at him from the window to stop and go get changed. The criticism today has really gone beyond all limits. And I'm sorry for that."
