The Serie A champions saw a loan offer for Jones rejected at the start of 2026 as former Reds boss Arne Slot wanted to keep him for the second half of the 2025/26 season.
However, with his place under fresh speculation following Andoni Iraola’s arrival at Anfield, Inter were hopeful of finally being able to land the 25-year-oldahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
The latest update from The Athletic claims Inter’s second summer offer – in the region of €25M (£21.7M) - was rejected by Liverpool, as they value him at closer to £35M (€40M).
Jones is now into the final year of his contract at Anfield, and despite being unlikely to sign a renewal on Merseyside, the club are still unmoved over their transfer demand.
As per Italian outlet Calciomercato, Inter have now run out of patience over the saga, and will not be offering anything above their last bid to bring Jones to the San Siro.
The club hierarchy has communicated this their ceiling for a player who can ultimately join as an unattached agent next summer and negotiate a free transfer from the start of 2027.
Jones has made over 200 appearances for Liverpool after graduating through the club’s youth system, but he's failed to convince both Jurgen Klopp or Slot over his reliability as a regular starter in the team, and a move to Italy looks to be a viable exit route if Liverpool’s stance softens.
