And Rubi admits he'd like to coach his new employer before the Real Madrid and Manchester United great hangs up his boots.
He said, "We are very happy. Of course we welcome him. It's amazing because a player like him, with his vast experience and understanding of sports and football, can help a club like ours.
"It's very exciting for the entire club and for the city. You already know the good relationship Cristiano has for the owners. The important thing is that he lands here with us. We are very happy.
"It would be extraordinary and wonderful if he could play here, but that's his decision.
"It's his club, and if he wanted to continue playing, he'll be received with open arms no matter who the coach is. I'm sure."
