Ahead of Sunday's trip to Manchester City, the £125m signing believes he is getting closer to his best after the midweek performance in victory over Champions League opponents Real Madrid.

"Of course, the numbers aren't right at the moment, but I simply try to give my best in every game – I always do – and I'm happy that I can create some chances," he told the club's website.
"I simply enjoyed playing (against Real Madrid) because I wasn't sure if I would even play. That's why I was happy to be able to play."
Wirtz added, "I think I already have a good connection with my teammates on the pitch. Hopefully, we can score more goals in the coming weeks and months."
