Chelsea forward Liam Delap reportedly wants to remain at the club and prove his worth after his dismal first season at the club.

Chelsea beat the likes of Man United, Newcastle, and Nottingham Forest to the 23-year-old’s signature after activating the £30 million release clause in his Ipswich deal.

Delap failed to leave a positive impression, however, scoring an abysmal two goals in his 41 games across all competitions.

According to BBC Sport, Delap remains determined to remain at the club for at least one more season in order to prove his worth.

That commitment is underlined by his decision to buy a house in the area, and he has been praised for his work-rate by former Chelsea managers.

It remains to be seen whether Chelsea will grant his wish though. The report adds that while the club aren’t actively looking to sell him, his low fee would make him easier to move on.
