With16 goals, the Brentford striker is now level with Manchester City's Erling Haaland in the Premier League scoring charts as he aims to league Brentford into Europe this season.
The Brazilian is on his way to his first ever golden boot with the Bees after bagging twice against Sunderland on Wednesday night.
His 16 goals has taken him a number that no Brazilian has previously posted in the English top tier. Former Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino managed 15 for the Reds in 2017-18, whilst Gabriel Martinelli equalled it in 2022-23.
Former Wolves striker Matheus Cunha hit the same mark last season but did not manage to grab 16. “I wasn’t expecting to score so much, but I just want to keep going,” Thiago said.
“He’s a complete centre‑forward,” said Brentford boss Keith Andrews. “I wouldn’t be swapping him for anybody. I don’t know how many have come from the Bulgarian league to the Belgian league, had a year out injured, and then affected the league like this.”
Brentford have 17 more Premier League matches to play and Thiago could set a record that no Brazilian will come close to for years to come if he continues his goal scoring pace.
