The Blues recalled the youngster after an injury suffered by Liam Delap.
However, Guiu has found himself sidelined so far this season, with only fleeting appearances so far.
TMW says Sunderland are now exploring the prospect of re-signing Guiu in January on-loan for the second-half of the season.
